We facilitated a space for Young Parents services to come together with representatives from the health and education sectors to understand the services available alongside the challenges young parents face.
Initially, Megan met with a small but wide variety of key services to discover the support available to those parents aged of 14-25. Due to their age and development, there are a lot of life experiences that young parents may not have gone through causing them to be unaware of how to deal with certain situations. It is really important to build and grow a healthy relationship between the parents and child whilst keeping a healthy relationship between the mother and father.
The aim of the forum is to help increase service quality, network with other similar services and help more young parents that may fall through specific criteria that could be helped by another. The Young Parents Forum meets three times a year in order to keep updated with what is available to young parents. A directory of services will also be circulated and added to for every service that attends the forum so the contacts are easily accessible for all participants.
For more information on these services currently involved, please email Megan on: megan@aldertrust.org.uk to be a part of the mailing list.
